How to use it
Use monthly amounts. For costs you pay once a term or once a year, such as books or a transport pass, divide the total by the number of months it covers. Leave a field empty if it does not apply to you.

If the number is red
Start with the biggest costs: rent, food and transport. Then look at subscriptions: many music, video, software and news services have student plans, and some tools are free for students. Our student discount pages show the checked price for your country, so you can see what each change is worth before you make it.
