Free evenings worth planning around

  • Walker Art Center, Minneapolis: free every Thursday, 5–9 pm.
  • Pérez Art Museum Miami: free on Thursdays after 5 pm.
  • Whitney Museum: free Friday nights, 5–10 pm, and the second Sunday of each month.
  • Saint Louis Art Museum: main exhibitions free on Fridays.

How to make the most of it

  1. Always carry your student ID, even where entry is free: some museums check it for ticketed exhibitions.
  2. Reserve free tickets online where the museum asks for it, such as the Baltimore Museum of Art.
  3. Check special exhibitions separately: free general admission rarely includes them.
  4. Combine with a student transit pass: see our city pages for the pass in each city.
