Travel eSIMs With a Student Discount: Saily, eSIMo, Yesim
A travel eSIM gives you mobile data abroad without swapping SIM cards. Several providers give students a discount, which helps on a study-abroad term or a trip.
The offers
| Provider | Student discount | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Saily | 15% off any plan | First-time users only |
| eSIMo | 25% on global, European, Central Asia and UAE eSIMs; 30% on Turkey eSIMs; 25% off a second local number | One purchase per customer; not combinable |
| Yesim | 25% off | First purchase only |

What a travel eSIM is
An eSIM is a digital SIM you install by QR code or in an app. Your phone has to support eSIMs and must not be locked to one network. You usually keep your normal SIM for calls and texts and use the eSIM only for data.
Who it suits
- Trips outside your plan’s roaming area, where your own provider may charge a lot for data; compare its roaming prices first.
- The first days of a study-abroad term, before you get a local SIM.
- Short multi-country trips, where one regional plan is simpler than several local SIMs.
Worked example
A £20 data plan costs £17 with Saily’s 15% and £15 with 25% at eSIMo or Yesim. Since Saily and Yesim only discount your first purchase, and eSIMo allows one discounted purchase per customer, choose a plan big enough for the whole trip.
Outside the UK
Student Beans Germany lists the same kinds of offers from Saily and eSIMo, and UNiDAYS lists 25% off a first Yesim order in Germany; see our German page eSIM mit Studentenrabatt. In Switzerland, UNiDAYS lists 10% off your next Airalo eSIM.
Tips
- Install before you leave, while you have Wi-Fi.
- Pick realistic data: maps and messaging use far less than video.
- Check hotspot rules if you want to connect a laptop.
- Keep your home SIM active if your bank sends security codes by text.
