Starting prices for the base model. Prices from Apple’s US education store and Macworld’s price check (August 2026); confirm the final price in Apple’s store before you pay.

The saving is a fixed amount per model, roughly 3–15%. It is biggest on the MacBook Pro and smallest on the iMac and iPad Air. Apple also lists AppleCare+ for new Macs and iPads at up to 10% off for students and educators.

How to get Apple education pricing, step by step

  1. Open the Apple Education StoreUse the button above. In the US the store lives at apple.com/us-edu. Prices there already include the education discount.
  2. Choose your Mac or iPadPick the model and options. The education price shows next to each configuration.
  3. Verify with UNiDAYSAt checkout Apple sends you to UNiDAYS. Create a free account, choose your college and confirm your student email. If the email check fails, UNiDAYS asks for a student ID or enrollment document.
  4. Pay and keep your proofApple can ask for proof of eligibility after the order (student ID, acceptance letter or school email). Orders without proof can be cancelled, so keep it handy until the order arrives.

Apple education pricing in the UK

UK higher education students, newly accepted students, parents buying for them, and teachers and staff at all levels can use the UK Education Store. A MacBook Air starts at £1,199 with education savings (£100 less than the regular price, according to Macworld’s check) and a MacBook Neo at £599. In 2026 the UK Back to School offer added an Apple Gift Card of about £80–£120 with an eligible Mac or iPad, from 13 August to 22 October.

Yearly limits

Education pricing comes with limits per year: one desktop Mac, one Mac laptop, two iPads, one Apple Watch and two accessories. The limits stop reselling; for one student’s own setup they rarely matter.

Back to School: the yearly bonus

Every summer Apple adds a Back to School promotion on top of education pricing. In 2026 it gave an Apple Gift Card worth up to $150 in the US with a qualifying Mac or iPad, and it ended on September 24 in the US. Outside that window you still get the normal education price, just without the bonus. If you can wait, buying between June and September usually gets you more.

Common problems and fixes

UNiDAYS does not recognise my school emailSome colleges use email domains UNiDAYS does not know yet. Choose “verify another way” and upload a dated student ID or enrollment letter. Approval by document can take longer than an email check.
I was accepted but have not started yetNewly accepted students qualify. Use your acceptance letter as proof if you do not have a student email yet.
My order was cancelled after purchaseApple cancels orders when it cannot confirm eligibility afterwards. Reply to Apple’s email with your proof, or reorder once your verification is approved.
I am a high school studentEducation pricing is for college students, not school-age children or their parents. A parent who is a teacher or homeschool teacher can qualify through their own role.

Students also ask

Can parents buy with Apple education pricing?

Yes, parents of current and newly accepted college students can buy for their student. Apple may ask for proof of the student’s status.

Does Apple have a student discount on iPhone?

No. The education store discounts Macs, iPads and some accessories, not iPhone. For a cheaper iPhone, look at Apple’s refurbished store or carrier deals.

Is AppleCare+ cheaper for students?

Apple lists AppleCare+ for a new Mac or iPad at up to 10% off for students and educators when you buy through the education store.

Can I combine education pricing with Back to School?

Yes. During the promotion the Back to School bonus comes on top of the education price.

Do grad students qualify?

Yes. Apple’s education pricing covers college and university students at any level, including graduate programs.

Is Apple Music cheaper for students too?

Yes, Apple Music has a separate student plan with its own verification. See our Apple Music student guide.

Cheaper ways to get a Mac or iPad

  • Apple Certified Refurbished: often cheaper than education pricing for the previous generation, with the same one-year warranty.
  • Big retailers sometimes discount current models below the education price during sales. Check Best Buy’s student deals before you buy.
  • Software for school is often free for students: see Microsoft 365 for students.
