How tech student discounts work
Tech brands discount in two ways. Apple takes a fixed amount off each model (for example $100 off a MacBook Air), while Samsung uses a percentage that changes by product, up to 30%. Both limit how many items you can buy at the education price each year, so plan one purchase rather than several.
Before you buy, compare the education price with the brand’s normal sales: during big sale events, a public discount can beat the student price. Apple’s Back to School promotion (June to September) adds a gift card on top of education pricing, which makes summer the best time to buy a Mac.
