Which one to pick

  1. Cheapest: Deezer at $5.99, if you are 18–25 and have never had a Deezer subscription or trial.
  2. Best value with video: Spotify (with Hulu) or Apple Music (with Apple TV). Both cost $6.99, so pick the one whose extra you would watch.
  3. High school students: TIDAL is the only service here that accepts US high school students aged 16+.
  4. If you watch a lot of YouTube: YouTube Premium Student removes ads and includes YouTube Music, so you may not need a second music app.

Before you subscribe

All of these plans need re-verification, usually once a year (every 11 months for TIDAL), and switch to the full price if you do not re-verify. Put a reminder in your calendar. Sign up directly with the service, not through an app store, when the service says the student price only works that way, as TIDAL does.
