How to get Notion’s Education Plan

  1. Sign up with your school emailYour school address must be the main email on the account. Gmail and other personal addresses do not qualify, and adding a school email as a second address does not work.
  2. Open SettingsIn the left sidebar, go to Settings.
  3. Click Upgrade planThen choose “Get free education plan”. If Notion recognises your school, the upgrade happens straight away.

What the Education Plan includes

  • A workspace for one member (you).
  • Unlimited pages, blocks and file uploads.
  • More options to customise and publish your site.
  • 30-day version history.

Notion’s education page does not say that Notion AI is part of the free plan. Students who verify through the GitHub Student Developer Pack get an Education plan with extra AI responses, according to GitHub’s pack page.

For student groups

Volunteer student organisations at selected verified schools can apply for a separate free offer with several members, unlimited blocks and files, 30-day history and up to 100 guests.

Common problems and fixes

My school email is not recognisedNotion only accepts school emails it can verify; it does not take student IDs. Ask your school IT whether students have an official domain, or use the Free plan for now.
I already used my school email onceEach school email can claim the offer once, for one workspace, even if that workspace was deleted.
I am in high schoolK–12 students and teachers are not eligible; Notion’s Free plan is the option.

Can I keep Notion after graduating?

Notion does not spell out what happens when you can no longer re-verify. Export the pages you need, or move them to a personal account, before your school email closes.

Does the Notion Education Plan include AI?

Not according to Notion’s education page. The GitHub Student Developer Pack lists a Notion Education plan with extra AI responses.
